Can I hear AMEN? Even if you’re not the amen type you have to admit that, for the most part, when it rains it pours. Here in NE Ohio that’s how its been for the last 2 weeks. I was considering building a boat in my basement, if my basement wasn’t already flooded. Between the humidity and the rain — it’s been a long two weeks.
Moving on from the “it rains it pours” example, but using the same train of thought, think about how things happen in your life. When something bad happens, doesn’t it appear to snowball into more bad? Or when something good comes along, it snowballs more good until something shifts again and bad snowballs.
I had a client come to me a few weeks ago – in the span of two days she first lost her job, wrecked her car, and caught her husband in bed with his assistant. She was livid and depressed. We talked for awhile and I suggested to her to get a change of scenery. Rent a car and stay someplace without electronics for 48 hours – time to unplug and assess. She did just that. While she was gone she had a great idea for a business and a book. She also won $2000 in a scratch off lottery ticket. Three bad things happened, then three good things.
She ended up taking that money, starting a business and writing that book. Her book landed on the NY best seller list, business is booming, and she met s new man.
It’s all interconnected. And why is that? Because energy is interconnected. There isn’t anywhere you are that energy isn’t. No where. There’s no escaping it. That’s why – good or bad – things snowball. When it rains it pours!
You can stop the bad from pouring as soon as the 1st negative situation arrives. It’s not easy to do – but it is very doable!
- When the bad happens, give yourself permission to be pissed off about it for the next 15 min. Cuss. Stomp. Yell at the top of your lungs. Whatever you need to do to get it out – as long as it doesn’t hurt you or someone else.
- After your time limit has arrived – change your thoughts to something positive. Anything. Could be that you have Supernatural on Netflix and you can get caught up. Doesn’t matter how big or small the positive thing is – just as long as you think about it.
- Now go and do something opposite of whatever bad just happened. Get a foreclosure notice? Go around and drive in neighborhoods you like. Lose your job? Investigate the career that makes you happy (start your own biz). Getting a divorce? Shop for your new life.
Now when something good happens, you want to keep that ball rolling by either doing something good right after, or by thinking good thoughts.
Bad happens. It’s a fact of life. But you can minimize the bad by remembering everything is interconnected.
When it rains it may pour, but you can get it to pour in the direction you want!
