Motivational Minute: Minimize Activities That Stop You from Being Present

Are you allowing the activities you choose to do to stop you from being motivated?

What do you do when you get home from work – or on the weekends – or after the kids are in bed? Do you watch a streaming service, TV, or maybe sports – what about video games or social media?

There are activities that motivate us because they keep us in the present, and others that strip us of the will to do anything because they either throw us to the future or the past.

So, for your 60 second motivational minute for the week…

One of the best ways to be more present and change your mindset is to minimize activities that make your brain dull and unable to focus on the present. Some activities make you present like cooking a meal or working toward a goal, and some don’t like streaming services or video games.

If you aim to become more present so you can accomplish your goals, then you have to remove activities that aren’t helping you accomplish those goals.

After you’re done with this episode, give yourself 60 seconds and think about what you do that draws you out of the present. Then take the next minute to decide what’s more important, that activity or keeping motivated to get stuff done.
